Leah's Weight Loss Blog Take 2

Ok..... so I'm not as excited about this blog thing and my weight loss plan as I was last week.  Dude, this is hard.  Losing weight is not quite as easy as it used to be.  I am proud to say, though, that I have lost around 2 pounds in the last week.  I now weight 146 so I have 11 pounds more to lose.  I must admit that I did not go to the gym quite as much as I had planned to go last week.  I actually only went two times, but I am going to try and do better this week.

For those of you who know me well, I DO NOT like to wake up before 6:00 a.m.  So.... this makes going to the gym in the morning before work pretty difficult.  I did, however, go to the gym this morning.  I woke up around 5:55 and hurried and got dressed and went and worked out.  It was actually nice and felt good to be up early and know that I am doing something good for my body and working toward my goal.  I worked out for about 50 minutes and got a shower at the gym and was about 10 minutes late for work.  This tells me that I am going to have to wake up even earlier (ugh!).

Anyway, I have to be in Savannah for my internship tomorrow morning at 9:00, so I will plan to go to the gym again on Wednesday.  I will let you guys know how it goes.

Have an awesome week!

Day 1 of My Weight Loss Journey

Today begins day one of my weight loss program.  Although I have never been a blogger and have always sort of felt that they were for people who are full of themselves and in need of attention, I feel the need to make myself accountable to someone.  I am hoping that blogging will allow me to keep track of my progress and hold me to my goal of losing weight.

Don't get me wrong... I know I look good already, honey.  I just don't feel great about my body and the weight I have slowly put on over the past five years.  The reason I know the exact amount of time it has taken me to put on this extra 15 pounds is because it all began when I moved to Starkville to attend graduate school.  The stress of school and the transitional period in my personal life contributed to the weight gain and I slowly packed on the pounds.  I didn't even realize my weight increased that much until I went to the gym one day and stepped on the scale and read 147.5 pounds!  I was crushed.  I had never weighed that much.  In my early 20s my weight varied from 135 to 137 pounds and it was easy to keep it under control.  I had the energy to exercise then and enjoyed working out.  Now, as I have entered my 30s, I have found it harder and harder to get the scale to budge.  My weight is in limbo between 150 and 145 pounds.

Anyway, it is time to take action.  My goal is to get back down to 135 pounds.  I have always enjoyed a challenge and am giving myself 13 weeks to lose the weight.  My plan is to lose a little over a pound a week for the next 13 weeks.  I plan to accomplish this by working out at least 4 times a week at the gym on campus first thing in the morning before work.  I will also cut back on my caloric intake and eat around 1400 calories a day.

So, feel free to join me over the next 13 weeks.  Start your own weight loss program and let's do this together or just read my posts and enjoy.  It should be an interesting next couple of months!
